KINDHEARTED Halesowen bus drivers are holding a charity football match next week in honour of their former colleague who tragically died. Number nine driver Mark Simon died aged 47 just three days after being diagnosed with cancer and fellow bus drivers are raising cash for Cancer Research UK. A team of bus drivers will be taking on Glasscutters FC on Tuesday, kick off 7pm, at the King George Playing Fields, Wordsley. National Express have donated kits ahead of the match and a follow up fixture between the bus drivers and Stourbridge FC in the Summer. Over 40 bus drivers put their names forward for the team and they are hoping to make football matches regular fundraising events. The Mark Simon Trophy has been made and the winning team will be presented with it by Mark’s widow. Dave Gerrard, who is organising the match, said: “We are hoping plenty of people come along to the match on Tuesday in honour of Mark.
